Just a little north of Springfield and Joplin, you’ll find Bolivar. The city itself dates back to 1835 when it was designated the county seat. Its heritage is evident in the Bolivar Public Library, First National Bank and North Ward School, all listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Make the short drive to Springfield and head to Dickerson Park Zoo, where you can ride the Titus Express miniature train and feed the giraffes. Springfield Botanical Gardens and Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden offer a picturesque backdrop for a walk. In Springfield, you can visit the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum. You can even see the World’s Largest Fork.
